Two of the brands on our wall are back where they belong. In February 2026, Louie Barletta announced he'd got enjoi back, and Bill Weiss announced he'd got Madness back. Both brands are now owned and run by skaters again, through Sidewalk Distribution. Here's how it went down.
How they got lost
Enjoi and Madness both lived under Dwindle Distribution, the company that came out of World Industries. Globe International owned it for years, then in 2019 sold it to a subsidiary of the private equity firm Transom Capital, reportedly for $1.5 million.
It went badly. Long-time staff were let go, teams walked, and by 2023 Dwindle had effectively collapsed. In January 2023, Bill Weiss, who'd spent close to 20 years at the company and built Madness from scratch with Eric Wollam, was fired and the brand was taken from him. The Madness team quit to stand with him. Clay Kreiner put it simply: without Bill, there is no Madness.
A month later, on Valentine's Day 2023, Louie Barletta announced he was leaving enjoi, the brand he'd defined for years. He said maybe one day they'd be able to get it back.
Sidewalk
Instead of disappearing, they built something new. In 2023, Louie, Bill, Bod Boyle and Steve Douglas started Sidewalk Distribution, a distribution run by skaters for skaters. It started with Jacuzzi Unlimited, Opera and Slappy Trucks, and the Madness crew found a new home on Opera.
Then they went after the brands they'd lost. Steve Douglas says it took two years and three offers, and they refused to just license the names. They closed the deal on 9 September 2025.
"I don't believe that anybody outside of skateboarding should be in skateboarding." – Steve Douglas
Enjoi
Louie announced it on Valentine's Day 2026, three years to the day after he left.
"We got enjoi back!! 4 words that took 3 years to post." – Louie Barletta
In his words, enjoi never went out of business. It was taken. What pushed him to get it back was hearing that the corporate owners were trying to sell enjoi scooters, rollerskates, helmets and rollerblades to Walmart. Too many of his friends had worked too hard on the brand, and too many fans had enjoi tattoos and deck collections, to let that happen. For him the panda isn't a logo. It's the blood, sweat and memories of his friends, still here and gone.
Enjoi is now in his hands, distributed by Sidewalk. He's riding for the brand again, there's a new team on the way, and the first Jacuzzi Unlimited and enjoi summer tour is in the works. The plan is for enjoi and Jacuzzi to work like Girl and Chocolate, sister brands with videos across both.
Madness
Three days later, on 17 February 2026, Bill Weiss followed with his own post. Three words: "Skateboarding is Madness."
He'd got his "baby" back, and Madness would be available through Sidewalk. The brand is still all about vert, bowls and going big and fast, and the old crew is coming home, with Clay Kreiner back on board and Sam Beckett part of it.
Why it matters to us
We work with Sidewalk, so when you buy enjoi, Madness, Jacuzzi or Opera from us, the money goes back to skaters who run their own companies, not to a fund that sees skateboarding as a spreadsheet. That's the whole reason we stock skater-owned brands.
Come check the wall at Habibi, inside Gooder at Alserkal Avenue, or shop enjoi and Madness online.
